Aetna Signs Major Office Lease at Plantation Walk
Encore Capital Management, the developer of Plantation Walk, the $350 million mixed-use office, retail, residential, and hotel destination, has announced that Aetna has signed the first lease for the project’s 160,000-square-foot Class A office building.
The healthcare giant and Fortune 50 Company will be moving to Plantation Walk from their current location in Sunrise. They will occupy 85,000 square feet of the office building and will move in December of this year.

Aetna’s new location will house several divisions of the company including commercial business, Medicare, Medicaid and Aetna International.

As one of the largest residential-retail-office projects in Broward County, Plantation Walk’s location, in addition to the amenities, was a huge draw for the company. Located on University Drive just north of Broward Boulevard, Plantation Walk is 10 miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale and 30 miles from downtown Miami. It features easy access to I-595, Florida’s Turnpike, and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The 263-room Sheraton Hotel onsite currently offers full conference, ballroom, and catering facilities, as well as a full-service restaurant. The entire property is serviced by an on-site parking garage.
Once completed, Plantation Walk will create a downtown-style destination encompassing the ingredients of a true, walkable mixed-use development. The 700 luxury rental apartments in “The Rise” apartment brand will be ideally suited to the region’s growing millennial workforce.
Some 200,000 square feet of entertainment and lifestyle options will include unique shops and a variety of quick-service and fine dining options.
