First Phase of Plantation Walk Opens

Encore Capital Management has announced that Plantation Walk’s 177,000-square-foot Class A office building is now open.

The building’s first tenant, Aetna, a CVS Health company, has moved in.  The healthcare giant moved to Plantation Walk from their previous location in Sunrise.  They are occupying 85,000 square feet of the office building which houses several divisions of the company including commercial business, Medicare, Medicaid and Aetna International.

An official ribbon cutting was held June 19th and attended by the development team, Plantation Mayor Lynn Stoner, City Council members, the Plantation Chamber of Commerce, as well as invited guests.

“We are excited to welcome the Aetna team to their new space as the first tenant of our brand new, Class A office space at Plantation Walk,” said Arthur Falcone, CEO and Managing Principal of Encore Capital Management.  “Their employees will be at the center of our live, work, play and stay development—one of the largest and most highly-anticipated projects in all of Broward County.”

The property is being professionally managed by JLL’s Bill Davis, a veteran in the property management industry. 

“Plantation Walk is a transformative project for Broward County and we at JLL are excited to be a part of it,” said Davis. “The project’s new Class A office space along with its retail and residential component offer the amenities and live, work, play lifestyle that speaks directly to today’s office users.”

Plantation Walk’s location, in addition to the amenities, was a huge draw for Aetna.  Located on University Drive just north of Broward Boulevard, Plantation Walk is 10 miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale and 30 miles from downtown Miami.  It features easy access to I-595, Florida’s Turnpike and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The 263-room Sheraton Hotel onsite currently offers full conference, ballroom, and catering facilities, as well as a full-service restaurant.  The entire property is serviced by an on-site parking garage.

The remainder of the office building is currently in the process of being leased out.  Leasing is being handled by Jay Adams, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank’s Senior Managing Director.

In January, Encore began construction on 171 apartments and the first phase of retail.  In total, the project will feature 700 luxury rental apartments under Encore’s The Rise brand and 180,000 square feet of retail space.

Once completed, Plantation Walk will create a downtown-style destination encompassing the ingredients of a true, walkable development that will create “Main Street Plantation.”  Entertainment and lifestyle options will include 180,000 square feet of unique shops and a variety of quick-service and fine dining restaurants.  Winding throughout the property will be pedestrian-friendly outdoor seating, walkways and green spaces creating a vibrant workday and after-hours destination ideal for any employer and its workforce.
